Kirkjufell means "Church mountain". It is a stand-alone mountain located in a bay near the fishing village of Grundarfjörður. It is actually the most photographed mountain in Iceland, and you will understand why when you will get the chance to capture that mountain and the nearby waterfall within a single picture. Mount Kirkjufell became even more famous than it used to be after being featured in the tv show: Game of Thrones, where it is referred to as: The "arrow head mountain".

Probably the second most popular black sand beach in Iceland just after Reynisfjara. Djúpalónssandur is not only the place of the most incredible rock formations, but it is also the whole atmosphere that makes this beach so unique. From the stones lying on the beach that were used to test the strength of the aspirant fishermen to the rusty remains of shipwrecks scattered all over the place, Djúpalónssandur is full of history

At the tip of the peninsula culminates an impressive stratovolcano covered by the glacier of Snæfellsjökull. This volcano/glacier, central to the national park of the same name is the volcano where actually takes place the original story of "Journey to the center of the earth" by Jules Verne. We will be driving around it during our commute between places of interest.
